Learn to Read Testimonial

"Homework had been a two hour nightmare until Zooberts! Learn to Read. That was a whole different story! My son even asked me a few times if we could do it again later. I get emotional thinking of how proud he was of himself. His reading really improved but the biggest change was his self-image."

Parents and Other HELPERS

Learn to ReadZooberts! Learn to Read has been written for the READER and for the HELPER, with great consideration given to each. Zooberts realizes the necessity for concerned HELPERS to have a program that will not only work for the READER, but will also serve the many needs of the HELPER.

Learning to read can be a great mystery and struggle. Zooberts demystifies learning to read and provides a unique approach that is fun for everyone!

This helping hand symbol indicates that there is a support note to the HELPER.

Code Man Cool and the five family mascots will talk to you, often in rhyme, throughout the journey along the Reading Road. Your role as a HELPER is clearly outlined and you are given the necessary tools to allow you and the READER to be successful, and do so quickly!

In addition to this support, the Vowel Family Stories - Books 3, 6, 7, 8, and 9 - are accompanied by a Lesson. The Lessons are written for the HELPER to ensure the proper use of the books, and especially to determine the proper pronunciation of each short vowel sound.

Topics and features that make Book 1 a valuable tool:

  • Description of the program
  • Outline of each book
  • Directions on how to best use the Vowel Family Stories
  • Special Alphabet Pages
  • Two great colourful poems that teach even the youngest READER the importance of the role played by vowels in learning to read
  • Zooberts Basic Vocabulary, outlining words considered by Zooberts to be basic vocabulary, and identifying the code and book used to teach each word
  • Teaching Posters, six wonderful visual aids to be used throughout the program, providing valuable assistance in a clear and colourful manner

Code Man Cool’s other book, Book 10, Code Man Cool’s Special Codes, is also a great tool for the HELPER. He has divided what the READER and the HELPER need to know about learning to read into ten special codes. Besides making the program unique and fun, these codes add to the interest and intrigue. The codes are:

  • CVC - Consonant Vowel Consonant
  • Blends
  • Two Vowels Go Walking
  • Magic e
  • Ing, Ang, Ong
  • Vowels Plus r
  • Blended Vowels
  • Y says i, Y says e
  • C, G, and Other Silly Sounds
  • Prefixes and Suffixes

Other features of Book 10:

  • Phoneme Chart, a clear colourful overview of the 44 phonemes with pictures, descriptions, and word examples.
  • Finale Word List, a list of more difficult words requiring the use of all the codes taught.
